BASIC COMPUTER LITERACY FOR WRITERS (i.e. anyone who writes!)

This is a two-part workshop for anyone who wants to improve their word processing and general computer skills. This workshop, led by Shanaya Nelson and Ruth Ozeki, will be held on two consecutive Mondays, February 1st and 8th, from 7:00pm to 9:00pm at the Whaletown Institute (at 506 Whaletown Road).

Session 1: The Basics

• Basic word-processing skills using Microsoft Word, including opening and closing documents, cutting and pasting text, formatting text and fixing formatting problems.
• Organizing and finding files on your computer
• Uploading and downloading attachments from email
• Sending files by email
• Transferring files to a memory stick and backing up your work

Shanaya used to be a computer trainer and programmer and is now a professional proofreader and editor. Ruth is a writer and spends most of her time moving words around computer screens.
